RHP Arnold Leon had a shaky start for Sacramento, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits over 5 1/3 innings, but LHP Pedro Figueroa took the loss after allowing 2 runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Second baseman Hiro Nakajima had 2 hits, including a double, and a walk and drove in a run, while outfielder Michael Taylor singled, doubled and scored a run in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader.

With the game tied and 2 men on and 2 outs in the top of the 8th inning, designated hitter Michael Taylor hit a 3-run homer to help give the River Cats the win in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader. RHP Fernando Nieve, making his first start for Sacramento, had an impressive outing, giving up no hits or walks but allowing 1 unearned run over 4 innings of work. RHP Kyler Newby struck out 2 in 1 scoreless inning of relief to pick up the win, while RHP Brian Gordon got the final 3 outs for his 20th save.

Starter Drew Granier had a solid outing for the RockHounds on Friday. Despite allowing 5 walks, he gave up just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 6 over 5 innings of work and left the game with a 2-run lead. But RHP Blake Hassebrock surrendered 2 runs in 2 innings of relief to tie the game, and LHP Jeff Urlaub gave up the game-winning run in the bottom of the 9th to take the loss. Outfielder Conner Crumbliss and designated hitter Jefry Marte had a pair of hits apiece for the RockHounds.

RHP Deyvi Jimenez turned in a strong start for the Snappers on Friday, allowing just 1 unearned run on 3 hits over 6 innings of work and left with the game tied, but RHP Trevor Bayless surrendered 4 runs in just 1 inning of relief to take his 2nd loss. Shortstop Daniel Robertson and outfielder Brett Vertigan had a pair of hits apiece, while first baseman Matt Olson hit his 5th home run in his last 5 games to give him a total of 22 on the season for the Snappers.

RHP Lou Trivino had a rough start on Friday, allowing 9 runs, 8 earned, over 4 innings to take his 4th loss. RHP Junior Mendez was impressive in relief, striking out 6 over 3 innings of work, while outfielder B.J. Boyd singled, doubled and drove in both the Lake Monsters’ runs in the loss.

Starter Jonathan Massad allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on 6 hits over 3 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Blake McMullen took the loss after giving up 5 unearned runs in the bottom of the 9th with the help of a passed ball and a pair of errors. Outfielder Vicmal De La Cruz had 2 hits, while second baseman Joe Bennie doubled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored a run for the A’s.
