LHP Carlos Hernandez allowed 3 runs on 7 hits over 5 innings of work to take his 3rd loss on Friday. The River Cats managed just 5 hits in the game. Outfielder Michael Choice singled and walked, while second baseman Jemile Weeks singled and doubled but also committed a pair of errors in the field, and third baseman Dusty Coleman went 0 for 4 in the game and is now 0 for 14 since joining the River Cats. In other news, shortstop Addison Russell is scheduled to join Sacramento on Saturday to help the Cats in their playoff run.

With the game tied in the bottom of the 9th, first baseman Anthony Aliotti led off the inning with a home run over the left field wall to provide the walk-off win for the River Cats on Wednesday. Aliotti also drove in the tying run with a sacrifice fly in the 6th. Starter Arnold Leon allowed 3 runs on 8 hits over 5 2/3 innings, while RHP Brian Gordon tossed a scoreless 9th to pick up the win. In other news, RHP Pat Neshek cleared waivers and was assigned to Sacramento.

Starter Bruce Billings had a rough outing for the River Cats, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits over 4 1/3 innings to take the loss on Monday. Second baseman Jemile Weeks had a pair of hits and walked, while outfielder Michael Choice doubled and walked, and third baseman Dusty Coleman went 0 for 4 in his debut after getting called up to take Daric Barton’s place on the River Cats roster. Barton was recalled by the A’s to replace right fielder Josh Reddick, who was placed on the disabled list. RHP Evan Scribner was also recalled by the A’s after the team designated RHP Pat Neshek for assignment.

Outfielder Michael Taylor collected 3 hits and drove in 2 runs, while designated hitter Michael Choice and first baseman Anthony Aliotti each had 2 hits and drove in a pair of runs for the River Cats. Third baseman Daric Barton left the game in the 3rd inning, presumably just in case Josh Reddick’s sprained wrist lands him on the disabled list and Barton needs to be called upon by the A’s.

Second baseman Hiro Nakajima had 2 hits, including a double, and a walk and drove in a run, while outfielder Michael Taylor singled, doubled and scored a run in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader.

RHP Fernando Nieve, making his first start for Sacramento, had an impressive outing, giving up no hits or walks but allowing 1 unearned run over 4 innings of work. RHP Kyler Newby struck out 2 in 1 scoreless inning of relief to pick up the win, while RHP Brian Gordon got the final 3 outs for his 20th save.
