Starter Travis Banwart had a solid outing for Sacramento on Friday, allowing 2 runs while striking out 9 over 5 innings to earn his 6th win. Outfielder Michael Choice hit a grand slam in the 8th inning after singling and doubling earlier in the game, while catcher David Freitas homered, doubled and drove in 3 runs in his return to the River Cats.

RHP Drew Granier had his 3rd straight rough outing for the RockHounds, allowing 10 runs, 6 earned, on 10 hits over just 4 innings to take the loss in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader. Right fielder Chad Oberacker tripled and drove in 2 runs, while left fielder Conner Crumbliss had 2 hits and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.

Midland’s lineup failed to score, but second baseman Dusty Coleman collected a pair of doubles, while catcher Ryan Lipkin went 0 for 3 in his return to action for the RockHounds.

Catcher Bruce Maxwell smacked a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning, while outfielder Bobby Crocker slugged a solo shot in the 5th.

The A’s 3rd-round pick in this year’s draft, first baseman Ryon Healy, had 2 doubles and drove in a pair of runs in his debut for the Lake Monsters.
