Starter Sonny Gray surrendered 4 runs in the 2nd inning but had an otherwise solid outing on Thursday. Gray ended up allowing 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 8 over 7 innings of work. Second baseman Grant Green hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 3rd inning to tie the game, and it remained tied until Green stepped to the plate in the 8th and hit his 2nd home run of the game, and his 11th of the season, to give the River Cats the lead. Outfielder Michael Taylor tagged a 2-run shot later that same inning, while LHP Hideki Okajima tossed a scoreless 8th inning to pick up the win, and RHP Brian Gordon got the final 3 outs for his 4th save. Meanwhile, Reno’s starting third baseman Eric Chavez went 0 for 2 with a pair of walks.

The RockHounds were no-hit Thursday night by RHP Brooks Pounders, who almost had a perfect game. Second baseman Tyler Ladendorf, who was hit by a pitch, was the RockHounds only baserunner of the game. Starter ArnoldLeon allowed 5 runs over 6 2/3 innings to take the loss for Midland.

Stockton starter Tanner Peters had a perfect game for 6 1/3 innings on Thursday before giving up a double to outfielder Skyler Stromsmoe, who eventually came around to score the tying run in the 7th inning. RHP Seth Frankoff tossed a scoreless 8th and 9th inning to get the game to extra innings, where RHP Ryan Dull surrendered the winning run in the 10th. First baseman Max Muncy had a pair of hits, including a double, and designated hitter Myrio Richard collected 3 hits for the Ports.

Starter Derek De Young had a solid outing for the Snappers, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, on 4 hits over 5 innings of work and left the game with a 5-run lead. But RHP Deyvi Jimenez gave up 4 runs in the 7th inning, and LHP Chris Lamb surrendered the winning run in the bottom of the 10th to take the loss. Outfielders Dayton Alexander and Brett Vertigan both collected a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Snappers.

Starter Brent Powers had an impressive outing for Vermont on Thursday, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 7 over 6 scoreless innings to earn his 1st win, while LHP Omar Duran pitched a perfect 9th to post his 2nd save.
