Outfielder Jeremy Barfield belted a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning and drove in another run in the 8th to account for 3 of the River Cats’ 5 runs on Monday. Starter Travis Banwart allowed 2 runs on 7 hits over 4 2/3 innings, while RHP Darren Byrd tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his 1st win for the Cats, and RHP Dan Otero got the final 3 outs for his 14th save.

The Ports’ lineup managed just 2 hits on the night, 1 apiece from catcher Ryan Ortiz and third baseman B.A. Vollmuth.

Catcher Bruce Maxwell collected 3 hits and scored 3 times, while outfielder John Wooten doubled and tripled, third baseman Renato Nunez doubled in a pair of runs, and second baseman Chris Bostick hit his 6th home run for the Snappers.
