In just his second game back with Sacramento, catcher Luke Montz had a big game on Tuesday, collecting 4 hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in all 6 of the River Cats’ runs. Second baseman Grant Green and designated hitter Jemile Weeks each contributed a pair of hits and scored twice. Starter Travis Banwart had his best outing of the season, allowing just 2 hits while striking out 8 over 6 innings to earn his 3rd win.

After being reliable all season, RHP Zach Neal had his second straight rough outing on Tuesday, though a couple of errors by second baseman Darwin Perez helped to make matters a lot worse. Neal allowed 7 runs, 3 earned, on 8 hits over just 4 innings to take his 3rd loss. Former major league LHP Pedro Viola, who was signed as a minor league free agent, gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of relief in his debut with the RockHounds. Designated hitter Jake Goebbert continued his hot hitting of late, collecting 3 hits, including a home run and a double, driving in a pair of runs, and raising his batting average to .300.

Second baseman Wade Kirkland clubbed a 3-run homer in the 3rd inning to provide the Ports with all the offense they would need on Tuesday. LHP Shaeffer Hall allowed 2 runs over 5 innings to earn his 1st win for Stockton, while RHP Seth Frankoff struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings of relief, and RHP Jonathan Joseph got the final 3 outs for his 3rd save.

Former A’s left-handed pitching prospect Ian Krol, who was dealt to Washington in the John Jaso trade, was added to the Nationals’ major league roster on Tuesday after posting an 0.69 ERA in 26 innings of relief for Double-A Harrisburg this season.
