RHP Bruce Billings delivered his 5th straight quality start for Sacramento on Sunday, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 8 over 6 scoreless innings to earn his 7th win. The River Cats benefited from 4 home runs on the night. Outfielder Michael Choice and third baseman Hiro Nakajima each slugged solo shots, while second baseman Grant Green and outfielder Shane Peterson both belted 2-run blasts in the 9th inning for the Cats.

Starter Murphy Smith had another strong outing for the RockHounds on Sunday, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss. Designated hitter Jake Goebbert had 2 of the Hounds’ 7 hits on the night.

With the Ports down by a run and the bases loaded with 2 outs in the top of the 8th inning, first baseman Max Muncy smacked a grand slam to turn things around and give Stockton the lead. Starter Drew Granier had another solid outing for the Ports, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits over 7 innings to earn his 6th win.

Third Baseman Renato Nunez

(Home Run / 2 RBIs)

 

Starter Seth Streich allowed 2 runs, just 1 earned, on 5 hits in 5 innings but took his 3rd loss on Sunday. With Beloit down by 3 runs in the 9th, third baseman Renato Nunez tagged a 2-run homer to put the team within a run, but that would be as close as the Snappers would get on Sunday.
