Top pitching prospect Sonny Gray had another strong start for Sacramento, allowing just 2 runs while striking out 7 in 7 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss on Friday. Shortstop Hiro Nakajima and designated hitter Jemile Weeks contributed a pair of hits apiece for the River Cats.

Starter Sean Murphy had his worst outing of the season on Friday, allowing 7 runs in just 2 2/3 innings to take his 2nd loss, while RHP Mike DeMark gave up 5 runs in just 2/3 of an inning of relief. Outfielder Conner Crumbliss collected 3 hits, while infielder Tyler Ladendorf launched a 3-run homer in the loss.

Outfielder Bobby Crocker did most of the damage for the Ports on Friday, hitting his 4th home run in the 1st inning and driving in 3 of the team’s 4 runs on the night. RHP Tanner Peters had another solid start for Stockton, allowing 2 runs and striking out 6 in 6 innings to earn his 6th win. RHP Seth Frankoff returned from the disabled list to toss a scoreless 8th, and RHP Jose Macias got the final 3 outs in the 9th to post his 5th save.

(8 IP / 5 H / 1 ER / 0 BB / 9 K)

 

RHP Raul Alcantara had another impressive outing for the Snappers on Friday, allowing just 1 run while walking none and striking out 9 over 8 innings of work, and he left with the game tied. RHPs Ryan Dull and Tucker Healy followed with 2 scoreless innings apiece, and the game remained tied until LHP Brent Powers gave up 5 runs in the 14th inning to take his 2nd loss. Third baseman Renato Nunez collected a pair of hits, while designated hitter Ryan Mathews slugged his 6th home run of the season for the Snappers.
