Starter Andrew Werner had another rough outing for the River Cats on Friday, allowing 7 runs over 5 innings to take his 3rd loss. Catcher Stephen Vogt and designated hitter Luke Montz both went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Vogt is now hitting .521 while Montz is hitting .371.

Starter Carlos Hernandez allowed 5 runs, 4 earned, on 9 hits over 5 innings to take his 2nd loss. Midland managed just 5 hits in the game, 2 off the bat of first baseman Anthony Aliotti, who’s now batting .358.

Starter Drew Granier had another impressive outing for Stockton on Friday, allowing just 1 run while striking out 10 over 5 innings of work. The right-hander now has 26 strikeouts in 20 innings for the Ports this season. Granier left after 5 innings with the game tied 1-1. But shortstop Adam Rosales led off the 6th inning with a home run to give the Ports the lead, which they would never relinquish. First baseman Max Muncy, continuing his hot-hitting, followed up with his 6th home run, and then slugged his 7th homer in the 7th. Third baseman Tony Thompson added his 2nd home run of the season, while second baseman Antonio Lamas collected 3 hits and drove in a pair of runs in the win.

  1. What’s with all of the strikeouts for Addison Russell (13 K’s in 24 AB’s)? Is he trying to be selective at the plate, or is he over matched in Hi A ball?
