Minor League Game Thread: 4/4/13 (Opening Day)

We’re experimenting with having a live Minor League Game Thread here on opening day. So please feel free to post comments below as today’s minor league openers for all four of the A’s full-season affiliates unfold.

The Double-A Midland RockHounds are scheduled to kick off today’s action at 4:00pm Pacific/6:00pm Central, followed by the Class-A Beloit Snappers at 4:35pm Pacific/6:35pm Central, and then the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats and Class-A Stockton Ports at 7:05pm Pacific.

You can listen to broadcasts of all the games free of charge online via MiLB Gameday Audio at http://www.milb.com/milb/multimedia/audio.jsp. Broadcasts are also available on your iPad or iPhone via the MiLB.com app.

  2. Midland RockHounds up 4-0 thanks to 2-RBI doubles by Jefry Marte & Anthony Aliotti & Beloit Snappers tied 4-4 thanks to a 3-run HR by Renato Nunez.

  3. Sacramento River Cats’ opening night lienup: Jemile Weeks DH, Grant Green 2B, Shane Peterson LF, Michael Choice CF, Michael Taylor RF, Scott Moore 3B, Luke Montz 1B, Andy Parrino SS, David Freitas C, Andrew Werner P

  4. Stockton Ports’ opening night lineup: Russell SS, Crocker CF, Whitaker RF, Ortiz C, Vollmuth 3B, Muncy 1B, Robinson LF, Thompson DH, Kirkland 2B

  5. Hitting stars so far tonight are Marte & Aliotti with 2 hits & 2 RBIs apiece for Midland RockHounds & Renato Nunez w/ 3-run HR for Beloit Snappers.

  6. Enjoyed the RockHounds game on gameday and radio. Combined they were in synch and were enjoyable. Created thoughts of going to Springdale this summer and enjoying a RockHounds game.

  7. Cool. This is always the most exciting part for me. Always leaves you with so much optimism. Bummer that milb does not have a strong app yet for the ipad, and they only allow ou to see AA, and AAA.

    Really excited about Nunez and following guys like Green, Russell, and young pitchers.

    1. Notices our Beloit boys struck out 16 times, not the best. But there are some fun guys to watch down there with Shipman, Bostick, Olsen, Nunez
