Worth Noting: Starter Dan Straily delivered another impressive performance for Sacramento, allowing 1 run on just 2 hits and striking out 8 over 8 innings, while outfielder Jermaine Mitchell homered for the River Cats’ only run of the game. The game was tied 1-1 until the bottom of the 18th inning, when outfielder Shane Peterson came on to pitch and gave up a home run to hand Tacoma the victory.

Worth Noting: Starter Sonny Gray had his 2nd straight solid outing, tossing 7 shutout innings to earn his 4th win. The right-hander has now thrown 12 1/3 scoreless innings over his last 2 starts. First baseman Anthony Aliotti had 2 doubles and drove in a pair of runs, while third baseman Miles Head and infielder Josh Horton collected 3 hits apiece.

Worth Noting: Midland had a hard time getting much going in the 2nd game of Wednesday’s doubleheader. The lineup collected just 5 hits, while starter Shawn Haviland allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 3 innings to pick up his 8th loss. Right-hander James Simmons did his best to keep the RockHounds in the game by striking out 2 in 2 perfect innings of relief.

 

CALIFORNIA LEAGUE (HIGH-A)

Worth Noting: Starter Sean Murphy got back on track with a solid outing on Wednesday, allowing 2 runs on just 2 hits while striking out 6 over 7 innings to earn his 5th win for the Ports. Outfielder Dusty Robinson hit a 2-run homer to put Stockton on the board in the 1st inning, and catcher Max Stassi hit a solo shot in the 4th to give the Ports the lead, which they never relinquished.

Worth Noting: Catcher Nick Rickles doubled in the game-winning run in the top of the 9th inning for the Bees on Wednesday night, while shortstop Sean Jamieson doubled and drove in 2. Starter Julio Ramos allowed 1 run on just 1 hit in 3 innings of work, while right-hander Jose Macias picked up the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Worth Noting: Starter J.C. Menna allowed 2 runs and struck out 6 over 6 2/3 innings but still took the loss on Wednesday. Outfielder Austin Booker tripled, while outfielder Brett Vertigan had 2 hits and drove in a run in the loss.

Worth Noting: Third baseman Renato Nunez blasted a walk-off 2-run homer in the bottom of the 9th inning to give the Arizona League A’s the win on Wednesday. Shortstop Addison Russell hit the game-tying homer in the 9th, while outfielder B.J. Boyd contributed 2 hits, including a double, and drove in 3 runs in the win.
