Worth Noting: Starter Dan Straily delivered another impressive performance at Sacramento, but the right-hander made just one mistake and it cost him. In 7 innings of work, he struck out 13 and allowed just 1 hit, but it was a home run off the bat of Las Vegas outfielder Eric Thames in the 5th inning, which turned out to be the only run scored in the game and saddled Straily with his 2nd loss. First baseman Kila Ka’aihue collected 2 of the River Cats 6 hits on the night.

Worth Noting: Despite walking 4 batters, Sonny Gray still turned in one of his best outings of the year for the RockHounds, striking out 6 in 5 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his 3rd win. Third baseman Miles Head had 2 hits, including a home run, and drove in 4 runs, while outfielder Michael Choice collected 3 hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in 3 runs in the win.

Worth Noting: Starter Sean Murphy had his 3rd straight rough outing, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits over 6 innings to take his 4th loss, while outfielder Dusty Robinson doubled for Stockton’s only extra base hit of the game.

 

MIDWEST LEAGUE (CLASS-A)

Worth Noting: Starter Tanner Peters allowed 5 runs but struck out 8 over just 3 innings to take his 3rd loss, while left-hander Julio Ramos came on to strike out 3 in 3 scoreless innings in his 1st appearance for Burlington since being promoted from Vermont. Shortstop Sean Jamieson homered and tripled in the loss.

Worth Noting: Starter J.C. Menna allowed 1 run on just 2 hits over 5 innings but still ended up being saddled with his 3rd loss. Shortstop Wilfredo Solano had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs in the loss.

 

ARIZONA LEAGUE (ROOKIE SHORT-SEASON)

Farmhand Of The Game:

Third Baseman Renato Nunez

(Home Run / Triple / 5 RBIs)

Worth Noting: Third baseman Renato Nunez continued his hot hitting, collecting a home run and a triple and driving in 5 runs, including the game-winning run on a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th inning. Shortstop Addison Russell had 4 hits, including a triple, and drove in 4 runs, including the game-tying run, and catcher Reynaldo Mateo had 3 hits, including 2 doubles, and drove in 2 runs. Starter Kayvon Bahramzadeh allowed 5 runs over just 2 1/3 innings, while right-hander Tyler Johnson tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win.
