Worth Noting: The River Cats scored just 2 runs on 7 hits on Saturday, both of them driven in by outfielder Michael Taylor in the 7th inning. Outfielder Kila Ka’aihue contributed 2 hits, including a double, while starter Brad Peacock had another in a recent run of rough outings, allowing 5 runs in 4 innings to take his 4th loss.

Worth Noting: Midland managed only 4 hits on Saturday night. Infielder Tyler Ladendorf, who got the start in center field, reached base 3 times, but never made it across the plate. Starter Sonny Gray allowed 4 runs on 11 hits over 7 innings to take his 6th loss.

Worth Noting: Stockton dropped a 5-hour, 18-inning struggle to Modesto on Saturday night. Outfielder Josh Whitaker, the second position player to take the mound for the Ports, took the loss when he gave up a run in the bottom of the 18th. Infielder Tony Thompson turned in 2 scoreless innings in his turn on the mound, while starter Jacob Brown allowed 5 runs in 4 2/3 innings of work. Catcher Beau Taylor singled in 2 runs in the 9th inning for the Ports to send the game into extra innings.

 

CLASS-A MIDWEST LEAGUE

Worth Noting: Outfielder Eliezer Mesa doubled in 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to give Burlington the lead, which they never relinquished. First baseman Douglas Landaeta hit a 3-run homer to put the Bees on the board in the 1st, and second baseman Chih Fang Pan contributed 3 hits and scored twice. Starter Seth Frankoff allowed 5 runs over 4 2/3 innings of work, but right-hander Drew Tyson came on to toss 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.
