Worth Noting: Starter Daniel Straily had another solid outing for Sacramento, allowing 2 runs while striking out 8 in 6 innings of work, but the bullpen couldn’t keep the Cats in the game. Right-hander Nate Long, who was just called up from Stockton, gave up 5 runs in 1 inning of relief, while Fautino De Los Santos surrendered 4 runs in just 2/3 of an inning to raise his ERA to 8.64. Second baseman Luke Hughes clubbed a 2-run homer and also took to the mound to record the final out for the River Cats.

Outfielder Kila Ka’aihue contributed 2 hits, including a double, while starter Brad Peacock had another in a recent run of rough outings, allowing 5 runs in 4 innings to take his 4th loss.

Worth Noting: Stockton dropped a 5-hour, 18-inning struggle to Modesto on Saturday night. Outfielder Josh Whitaker, the second position player to take the mound for the Ports, took the loss when he gave up a run in the bottom of the 18th. Infielder Tony Thompson turned in 2 scoreless innings in his turn on the mound, while starter Jacob Brown allowed 5 runs in 4 2/3 innings of work. Catcher Beau Taylor singled in 2 runs in the 9th inning for the Ports to send the game into extra innings.

Worth Noting: Outfielder Eliezer Mesa doubled in 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to give Burlington the lead, which they never relinquished. First baseman Douglas Landaeta hit a 3-run homer to put the Bees on the board in the 1st, and second baseman Chih Fang Pan contributed 3 hits and scored twice. Starter Seth Frankoff allowed 5 runs over 4 2/3 innings of work, but right-hander Drew Tyson came on to toss 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

Starter Bruce Billings allowed just 1 run and struck out 6 over 6 innings of work, while right-hander Danny Farquhar picked up his 1st win with 2 innings of scoreless relief.

Worth Noting: In his first start since being promoted from Midland, right-hander Daniel Straily kept up the good work, striking out 8 in 7 scoreless innings to earn his first win for Sacramento. Infielder Brandon Hicks continued his hot hitting, blasting a grand slam in the 1st inning, his 6th home run in the last 7 games, to give the River Cats the lead. Third baseman Stephen Parker contributed a 2-run homer as well.
