Worth Noting: Starter Brad Peacock had another strong outing, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings to earn his 3rd win for the River Cats, and right-hander Andrew Carignan pitched a scoreless 9th inning to pick up his 1st save. Third baseman Josh Donaldson was the offensive star for Sacramento once again, slugging a go-ahead 2-run homer in the 6th inning. Donaldson also scored twice and went 2 for 4 on the night to keep his batting average at .500. Shortstop Adam Rosales hit a 2-run homer as well, and first baseman Chris Carter and outfielder Brandon Moss both doubled and drove in a run for the Cats.

Worth Noting: Top prospect Sonny Gray turned in a solid effort for the RockHounds on Friday. After giving up 3 runs over the 1st 2 innings, the right-hander settled down to toss 5 scoreless frames. Catcher Ryan Ortiz homered and doubled, third baseman Josh Horton and outfielder Michael Choice drove in 2 runs apiece, and outfielder Shane Peterson drove in the winning run for the Hounds in the bottom of the 9th.

Worth Noting: Stockton’s offensive woes continued as the team lost its 5th straight. Left-handed reliever Jacob Brown did an admirable job in his first start for Stockton, giving up just 1 run while walking none and striking out 5 over 4 innings of work. Catcher Max Stassi clubbed his 2nd homer of the season while outfielders Myrio Richard and Josh Whitaker contributed 2 hits apiece in the loss.

Worth Noting: Starter Jonathan Joseph was impressive over 7 innings, allowing 2 runs while walking just 1 and striking out 6. But left-hander Jeff Urlaub picked up the win after tossing 3 scoreless innings of relief when outfielder Aaron Shipman drove in the winning run for the Bees in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Worth Noting: Outfielder Dusty Robinson slugged his 8th homer and drove in 3 runs as the Bees dropped the 2nd game of Friday’s doubleheader. Starter Drew Granier was the hard-luck loser, allowing just 1 earned run – and 4 unearned runs – while striking out 9 over 4 2/3 innings of work for the Bees.
